Peake Fitness Guidelines

Peake Fitness reopens on the 12th of April. Please be advised that during this unprecedented period, some services and experiences may be closed or of restricted opening times. For more information please contact the Hotel directly.

We have extended our existing strict practices of cleanliness and have put social distancing measures in place.

Please read our guidelines document to prepare for your visit.

We have also provided guidance for our Membership types and have answered some common questions in the sections below. Please read these prior to your visit.

We have updated our class timetable to reflect changes in classes. We have scheduled 15-minutes cleaning and sanitisation time after each class. To minimise congestion and queuing, please do not enter the Club until your class commences.

Please view our Pool Policy for full details on spa access, children’s swimming times and our lounger policy.

If you have any further questions or queries, please call us on 01206 265820.

  • Guidance for Gym Session Members

    Gym Session Member:

    Opening Hours

Monday to Friday:  06.30 am to (last entry 9.30 pm) – closing at 10.00 pm prompt.
    Weekends:  08.00 a.m. to (last entry 5.30 pm) – closing at 6.00 p.m. prompt

    Face Coverings in Public Areas
It is mandatory for all members and guests to wear a face-covering when in or walking through a public area of the hotel complex. Face coverings do not need to be worn in the gym or studio when exercising. We kindly ask that all members help us adhere to this law. Our reception team has also been asked to enforce this measure.

    Test and Trace
Due to Test and Trace measures, membership swipe cards MUST be used to gain access to the leisure club upon each visit. Our reception team has been asked to enforce this measure to allow us to comply with requirements. If you lose your card please see Peake Reception. Failure to use your card at the gate may result in refusal of entry.

Do I have to book to use the gymnasium?
Yes, all members wishing to use the gym will be required to book their 1-hour gym session. This can be done easily and efficiently using our new online member’s portal. Bookings can still be done via Peake Reception and the gym. However please take the opportunity to use the member’s portal where possible to avoid waiting times.

    Changing Room Access
Our changing rooms are open and available for all to use. However, we ask that if you do not require the use of a locker or shower please refrain from use where possible to reduce unnecessary congestion within these areas.  Please ensure a face covering is worn where possible when using the changing facilities and please try and keep as much distance as possible. If you do not use the changing room lockers, please endeavor to bring minimal belongings into the club with you i.e. swipe card, car key, and water bottle which will remain in your possession whilst you use the gym.

How long will I have to workout?
Your allocated time will be 60 minutes, currently once per day. The fitness staff will ‘check you in and out’ of your gym session. To minimise congestion pre-session, we ask that you only arrive at the gym at the time of your session.
Will I have my temperature taken upon entry?
Yes, all attendees will have their temperature taken upon entry. If you have a high temperature you may be refused entry to the leisure club.
Will I have to sanitise my own equipment before and after use?
Yes, we ask all users to take responsibility for the equipment they use whilst working out. Our staff will also be on hand providing cleaning and sanitation to high touchpoints throughout the club.
Can I train with my training partner if we can both get a slot at the same time?
No, not unless you are in the same household. Government guidelines have changed from the last time we re-opened from lockdown. They state that exercising in gyms should be done alone.
    Gym Layout/Capacity

You will notice that the gym has been reconfigured. This is because we believe it works better spacially whilst also providing better spacing for social distancing.

The capacity will be capped at 15 members per hour.
    Will sweat towels be provided?
Unfortunately, government guidance prevents us from offering sweat towels to our members at this time. We advise that you bring your own towel to the gym.
Will the water fountain be available?
Unfortunately, the water fountain will be out of use, we ask that you bring your own water when attending the gym or purchase a bottle from one of the beverage outlets across the resort or Pippin shop.
Are there any additional measures to protect me whilst using the gym?
Cleaning and sanitation have been increased throughout the club with designated cleaning staff at key points throughout the facility. We are using ozone water to spray over high touchpoints such as gym upholstery and poolside loungers which kills all bacteria including covid-19 after 60 seconds of contact. Early September we installed air purifying units within the gymnasium, studio, and changing rooms. The system uses ultraviolet light to kill all airborne viruses and pathogens including all strains of Coronavirus.

Can I go for a swim after my workout or after attending a class?

Yes, however, please note that the swimming pool will operate on a first come first serve basis. The pool will be separated into 5 lanes. If all lanes are occupied then you may have to wait for a lane to become available. Please see operational guidance for Swim Session Member.  NB Children Swimming: From 08:00-09:00 Saturday and Sunday only, the pool will be open for children’s swimming for hotel residents. School holiday weekdays will also permit hotel residents children at these times.

Heat Cabins:  From the 17th May, our Steam Room and Sanarium will be open for use. Relevant procedures for use are in place, and will be on display.

Can I sit and have a coffee or smoothie after my workout, swim or class?
Not at this time, unfortunately. Government guidelines allow Peake’s Bistro to be open on the 17th May. Takeaway options are currently available from The Sports Bar. Member discounts will be honored at any till point across the resort including the Sports Bar when paying with your members swipe card.

    Fitness Classes

    What classes are you providing?

Government guidelines allow us to provide outdoor classes. Indoor classes will be allowed to take place from the 17th May. There is a new timetable in place for outdoor classes until that date. Some of our online classes provided during lockdown will remain in place until the 17th May. The weekly timetable will be sent out via Peake Post to all members.

    What capacity are classes?
Outdoor classes are limited to 8 spaces. When indoor classes resume from 17th May they will be limited to 12 spaces per class. To reduce congestion and queuing outside the studio we ask that you only enter the leisure club at the time of your class.

Do I have to book for all classes?
Yes, due to Test and Trace all classes must be booked, failure to book will result in you being refused entry to the class.
How will you be policing this?
Each class instructor will call a register at the beginning of each class, unfortunately, repeat ‘no show’ offenders will be prevented from booking classes for 1 month and we ask that members are mindful that we are operating with a reduced capacity for each class.
    Can I book online?
Our new member’s portal is now live which will enable you to book classes easily from your pc or device. You can still book via email [email protected] to book your classes. Members receive an invitation to register to the Portal via email. Please ensure we have your up to date email address.
When attending the club for a class do I have access to the changing facilities?
Wherever possible if you are simply attending a class, we ask that you come dressed in workout clothes and bring minimal belongings into the club with you i.e. swipe card, car key, and water bottle which will remain in your possession whilst you use the studio.

    Will sweat towels be provided?
Unfortunately, government guidance prevents us from offering sweat towels to our members at this time. We advise that you bring your own towel to your class.
Will I have my temperature taken upon entry?
Yes, all members will have their temperature taken upon entry, unfortunately, if you have a high temperature you may be refused entry to the leisure club.
Will I have to sanitise my own equipment before and after use?
Yes, we will ask all members to take responsibility for the equipment they use whilst in the class. Our staff will also be on hand providing cleaning and sanitation to high touchpoints throughout the club.
Are there any additional measures to protect me whilst using the studio?
See all detailed information under this section above.  Additionally, all class instructors will be issued their own microphone mouthpiece to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19.
