Stoke by Nayland Resort is looking for an experienced Retail Manager to work in our specialist golf and gift shop.
Reporting to the Head of Golf & Leisure, we are looking for a dynamic, driven and personable Retail Manager to develop and drive the performance of Pippin, our Resort shop.
The successful candidate will have a proven retail background and experience in stock control, controlling costs and delivering departmental profit. They will have a passion for providing excellent customer service and a drive to develop a team to deliver a welcoming and consistent customer service experience.
Job responsibilities:
- Agreeing and achieving budgeted sales for Pro Shop and Pippin goods, golf buggy sales and custom fitting targets.
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive Sales and Marketing plan to deliver revenue targets.
- Ensuring the team is fully aware of sales targets and trained to maximise all sales responsibilities and opportunities.
- Achieving budgeted departmental P&L profit target via management of payroll, Cost of Sales & all other allocated cost lines.
- Ensuring the team knows the products and activities that deliver the highest profit margins.
- Achieving a sales value for each sale made that allows, after all direct costs, the appropriate gross profit margin for each sale.
- Creating an outstanding Customer Journey and experience.
- Managing the rota, ensuring that the shop is adequately staffed at all times.
- Managing stock rotation to ensure compliance with food standards.
- Managing and monitoring customer complaints.
- Ensuring the team is aware of KPIs and how they are measured.
- Providing clear Job Descriptions, goals and performance targets to all team members.
- Effective recruitment of the Golf & Retail team, through collaboration with the Golf Operations Manager.
- Ensuring compliance with all appropriate legislation.
Qualifications or desired skills:
- Retail management experience.
- Purchasing experience.
- The desire for knowledge and developing oneself and team.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Golf background or knowledge is desirable but not essential.

Additional information:
As part of the Golf & Retail team, you will be expected to work five days from seven, including weekends, dependant on business needs. This role offers a competitive salary as well as additional employee benefits. When applying please also give details of present salary and salary expectations.
