Springtime in Suffolk
Today is the 1st March and the first official day of Spring (it doesn’t quite feel like it to me either!). Christmas, New Year and the January blues are behind us and we can now look forward to longer days, warmer weather and the certainty of April showers!
So, what is there to do in SbN’s neck of the woods in Spring? Here’s just a few of my favourite ideas:
Visit the Suffolk Show
A great family day out is always guaranteed at the Suffolk Show. This year it takes place through May half term on Wednesday 31st May and Thursday 1stJune. You’ll get to taste unique food, see the farm animals, entertainment, shopping, activities and so much more! Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the door.
Row through the Dedham Vale
A perfect way to explore Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is to pick up a rowing boat at the Boathouse in Dedham and row the mile and a half journey to Faltford Mill.
Boat hire is available from March to October, 7 days a week in school holidays and weekends in term time.
If rowing isn’t your thing, why not hop on The River Stour Trusts electric boat, Stour Trusty II. Scheduled trips run Saturdays between March and October.
Walk or cycle around Alton Water
Alton Water is the largest reservoir in Suffolk and best known in the area for its water activities such as sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding etc. However, with a perimeter of 8 miles and numerous picnic areas, it’s great for a long walk or even a cycle ride with the whole family.
Happy exploring Suffolk this Spring – don’t forget we have loads of activities and events here at SbN in the coming months, head over to our website to find out more.
